when to check
Monthly
Building owners should check monthly for damaged, missing, or undercharged units.
Annually
Trained extinguisher technician performs service on all units to ensure proper working order in accordance with manufacturer.
Periodically
Internal examination by trained technicians is required (every 3 or 6 years, depending on type) to check pressurized extinguishers and replace worn parts.
Hydrostatic testing by trained technicians is required (every 5 or 12 years, depending on type) to perform nondestructive pressure tests.
